Profile

Stacy Blosser is a 4th-grade teacher at West Noble Elementary School. With her focus on teaching English-language learners, Stacy uses a wide variety of research-based instructional strategies that engage her students and help them to master the content at a high level. Stacy’s school is part of the No Excuses University program, meant to educate and inspire students about the importance of going to college. Stacy has devoted herself to this mission by immersing her students in her “Indiana University classroom” for the past four years, fostering connections between Indiana University and classroom activities. Her students have teamed up with a group of “college mentors,” IU graduate students with whom they correspond through email and video-chat. A culminating experience for Stacy’s class is a field trip to IU Bloomington during which students tour the campus, spend a night in a dorm while hosted by their college mentors, and get a sense of what it feels like to be a college student.

Stacy’s mission is to empower her students with the desire and motivation to reach their highest potential not only in the classroom, but also through college and to the career of their dreams.
