Profile

Adam Pietrykowski has taught AP U.S. History, World Geography, and World History at Switzerland County High School. He strives to create a sense of connection and empathy with the people of the past, which he believes is the key to understanding history. Adam leads his students through a tour of a plantation home, historic sites, and the architecture of Indianapolis.

Adam’s students learn about the lives of slaves as part of Connor Prairie’s “Follow the North Star” program. Under Adam’s leadership at Switzerland County High School, enrollment in AP U.S. History has risen from 5% to 25% of the Junior class. The course is interactive and Adam has paid special attention to helping students learn in a variety of ways. Adam uses creativity and multiple approaches to the curriculum. As the Varsity Girls Track Coach, Adam believes in excellence. He uses extracurricular activities to teach the values and character students need to succeed, including discipline, perseverance, and patience. Adam is well loved and a valued member of his school and community.
