Q&A with Sarah
How has INSPIRE or the School of Education helped you grow as a future teacher?
INSPIRE has given me the opportunity to connect with other future educators which has exposed me to so many new perspectives. I’ve also met several Armstrong Teachers whose insight and expertise has taught me so much about education.
What has been your favorite experience as a member of the INSPIRE LLC so far?
I love all the events we’ve done. From visiting the pumpkin patch to stargazing to game nights. These events are so fun and they helped me grow closer with some of my best friends.
What influenced your decision to become a Peer Mentor?
My freshman year I loved the community aspect of INSPIRE. It helped me adjust to college life and gave me a place where I felt like I belonged. I wanted to be a part of keeping that community alive and helping future freshmen adjust to college.
If you’re an education major or have an interest in education I would definitely apply! It’s so helpful to have connections with other people in the school of education and you will meet so many amazing people.
What are some responsibilities you have as a Peer Mentor?
We help Freshmen with any questions they may have about their classes or the school of education, and help them get used to campus and college life. We also run fireside chats and cultural excursions to explore different topics in education.
Do you have any advice for anyone who might be thinking about applying to INSPIRE?
If you’re an education major or have an interest in education I would definitely apply! It’s so helpful to have connections with other people in the school of education and you will meet so many amazing people.
What would you say to someone considering joining INSPIRE?
Do it! It's amazing.
