How has INSPIRE or the School of Education helped you grow as a future teacher?
INSPIRE has given me many opportunities to grow as a leader and a teacher. INSPIRE has taught me that I am always learning and improving and making progress. INSPIRE has given me opportunities to explore my passions as a future educator and use that as motivation to be the very best teacher I can be!
What has been your favorite experience as a member of the INSPIRE LLC so far?
My favorite experience has to be sitting in the lounge and laughing and spending time with my peers.
What influenced your decision to become a Peer Leader?
As a freshman I felt so welcomed into the community by the peer leaders. I wanted to welcome this cohort of freshmen into INSPIRE with that same warm attitude. I also wanted to support the freshmen education majors. I wanted to help them grow as educators and put new tools in their teaching tool box!
The community you find in INSPIRE is unique. I have never felt so supported and appreciated by a community before. I'm so proud to be a part of this community. I am so grateful for the memories and friendships I have formed here.
What are some of the responsibilities you have as a Peer Leader?
As a peer leader, we help cultivate the culture we want to see on our floor. We help the freshmen get acclimated to IU and answer questions they may have through the year. Our priority is to cultivate a community of friendship and respect.
Do you have any advice for anyone who might be thinking about applying to INSPIRE?
I highly encourage joining INSPIRE. INSPIRE makes the transition to college easier and gives you a community to lean on right off the bat.
What would you say to someone considering joining INSPIRE?
The community you find in INSPIRE is unique. I have never felt so supported and appreciated by a community before. The staff, peers, and educators you connect with in INSPIRE is truly incredible. The leadership and education skills you learn are so valuable. I'm so proud to be a part of this community. I am so grateful for the memories and friendships I have formed here.
