Q&A with Courtney
How has INSPIRE or the School of Education helped you grow as a future teacher?
Both INSPIRE and the School of Education have given me the opportunity to meet so many fantastic teachers that I can learn from. The Armstrong Teacher Panels have been very informational, and given me resources and skills to put in my toolbox.
What has been your favorite experience as a member of the INSPIRE LLC so far?
My best experiences on INSPIRE have been the little things, like hanging out in the lounge, playing card games and going on walks.
What influenced your decision to become a Peer Leader?
During my first year as a member of INSPIRE, the peer leaders and other students had a positive impact on my experience on the floor. Combined with my love of teaching and helping people, INSPIRE is a community where I can thrive.
Joining INSPIRE my freshman year was one of the best decisions I have ever made. INSPIRE has given me a community, a support system and many great friendships.
What are some of the responsibilities you have as a Peer Leader?
Our responsibilities as peer leaders are to create a culture within the floor that is a welcoming and safe environment. We also facilitate fireside chats and cultural engagements which give INSPIRE students the opportunity to learn more about different topics in education.
Do you have any advice for anyone who might be thinking about applying to INSPIRE?
I would highly recommend any education major to apply to INSPIRE. The application process is short, and only requires you to answer a few questions. It can’t hurt you to apply, and you may end up making lifelong friendships.
What would you say to someone considering joining INSPIRE?
I would simply tell them that joining INSPIRE my freshman year was one of the best decisions I have ever made. INSPIRE has given me a community, a support system and many great friendships.
