Q&A with Brok
How has INSPIRE or the School of Education helped you grow as a future teacher?
INSPIRE has definitely helped me with meeting teachers of the year and educators who have almost perfected their craft and it helps my networking and skills.
What has been your favorite experience as a member of the INSPIRE so far?
My favorite experience was definitely either going to St. Louis or meeting panels of superintendents of nearby school districts and hear what they want from future teachers.
What influenced your decision to become a Peer Leader?
I wanted to boost my resume and I enjoyed the culture of the floor and really thought of Professor James Damico as a role model and wanted to be under his wing for another year.
Most other floors don’t build bonds this strong and it can be a make or break for college. I met my best friends on INSPIRE and they helped me through my lowest points.
What are some of the responsibilities you have as a Peer Leader?
As a peer leader it is my responsibility to make sure I help keep the freshmen on track and be there for any issues or shortcomings they experience.
Do you have any advice for anyone who might be thinking about applying to INSPIRE?
I’ll keep this honest as possible, it’s so worth it! Most other floors don’t build bonds this strong and it can be a make or break for college. I met my best friends on INSPIRE and they helped me through my lowest points, and I’m so forever thankful for INSPIRE with James Damico, Sam Silberstein, and the two most recent Assistant Directors for their help with my future career.
Anything else you would like people to know about you?
I’m like the 2nd coming of Dennis Rodman, I’m off the walls and experiment with my fashion a lot.
What would you say to someone considering joining INSPIRE?
It’s the best experience possible, helps with your future career and can help make your classes easier to be with people who share your major area.
